Conditions like Cerebral Palsy, brain injuries, some genetic disorders, and others, may affect the quality and proper tension of the Fascial System that supports the different parts of the body (brain, bones, muscles, nerves, vessels, etc ).
Without the right support, the muscular-skeletal system collapses, deformities appear and the exchange of body fluids (blood, cerebrospinal fluid, lymph, interstitial fluid) gets restricted. Inadequate flow of these vital fluids limits the body's own mechanisms to grow, maintain and repair. This is the main reason why individuals with Cerebral Palsy, as they grow, their physical condition worsens limiting their motor performance and quality of life.
With the use of gentle techniques, the fluids flow is reestablished bringing a favorable environment for the body to function, allowing the Fascia to strengthen and provide a better support to the structure. The mechanisms for developing and healing are unlocked.
With WeFlow Fascia Therapy, the children with Cerebral Palsy get stronger and healthier while improving their postures and gaining control of their movements.
WeFlow teaches the parents or caregiver gentle manual techniques to work on the Fascial System. These techniques bring the following benefits:
Reestablishment of the fluids flow bringing a favorable environment for the body to function. This new flow carries more nutrients to the tissues and promotes overall relaxation.
Fascia remodeling only happens when these techniques are applied regularly. Therefore, we teach the caregiver how to deliver them at home. This also allows the parents and caregivers to choose the best time during the day to work on their loved ones.
Another benefit of WeFlow is that it can be done without the voluntary participation of the child (because it is passive). Most of the children fall asleep as the parents work on them, or choose to watch their favorite T.V. show.
The Fascial System changes no matter how old the patient is, offering a wonderful avenue to help adults with Cerebral Palsy
and other neuromuscular disorders.
Developmental delays
Reflux and constipation
Sleep disorders
Infant colic
Latching / breast feedin
Lazy eye / strabismus
WeFlow Fascia Therapy can help in cases where the child’s motor development is going slower than expected. With a caring and comprehensive approach, WeFlow combines very gently hands-on treatment and movement facilitation techniques that mimic the normal development and promote the processes that are essential for the child to thrive.
We need to make sure that there is no structural restriction preventing the movement so the initial assessment is critical. WeFlow focuses on the details of how the movement is done in terms of weight bearing and counterbalancing, how the movement is felt and integrated into the fascial system and how the child performs in every situation.
Through a playful and positive environment, the child gets to experience new opportunities to move and explore the surroundings.
Some common infant illnesses like colic, constipation, reflux, sleep disorders, poor feeding/ latching, lazy eye and others, could have structural origins. Manual Osteopathy and Craniosacral Therapy help with them. By gently targeting the structure, these conditions resolve very soon.
Teaming up with the parents is crucial. WeFlow empowers them so they can help their children. Parents learn specific techniques and ideas to play with their children so the stimulation continues at home.
Scoliosis
Flat head (Plagiocephaly)
Torticollis
Flat feet
WeFlow targets the structure of the body from the understanding of the fascial system and the biotensegrity model. With soft manipulations, the structure can improve its alignment and the fascial system can be strengthened to allow better support of if.
Manual osteopathic and fascial remodelling techniques are combined to promote structural changes in the body.
These techniques are particular helpful in conditions like:
Flat head syndrome (Plagiocephaly,
Brachicephaly)
Torticollis
Scoliosis and other spine conditions
Foot and ankle conditions: Flatfoot (pes valgus) / Cavusfoot / Clubfoot / Equinus Toewalking)
Autistic spectrum disorders
Sensory processing disorders
Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Sensory Processing Disorders.
Children within the Autistic Spectrum Disorders often face challenges when organizing the sensory information they receive from the environment (noise, smell, taste) but also from the information they receive from their own body (proprioception, interoception).
How WeFlow Fascia Therapy can help?
By organizing the sensory system: Understanding the role that fascia plays in our sensory system gives us a wonderful avenue to address the sensory dysregulation that most of these children present. Parents learn different techniques that will help their children to organize the way they feel themselves, allowing a more meaningful interaction with the environment.
By realigning and balancing the cranial bones. It is well known that many children within the ASD present imbalances in the skull and craniosacral system (like changes in the shape of the head, limited motion of the cranial bones or extreme sensitivity around their heads). By bringing those structures back to balance the motion of the membrane surrounding the brain can flush toxins and inflammation out of the brain tissue. As this occurs, it naturally can elevate biochemical processing, which increases the function of neurons and neurological pathways, including the autonomic nervous system (that promotes overall relaxation). This approach is particularly effective to treat anxiety.
By osteopathically addressing the gastrointestinal problems usually seen in these children.
By targeting the fascial system, we see the child, despite the label.
WeFlow is also very helpful in children within the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, as it helps to integrate the sensory system and organizes it.
